Creative critical reflection

 1. how does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

In todays society, you don't see much love or kindness being spread. Sometimes all someone wants or needs to hear is a compliment or something nice and it can save their life. The idea behind our commercial was to "spread joy." If you notice in one clip there is a kid sitting looking sad on a bench and he is given a note that cheers him up. There isn't one specific social group being represented its more of a society as a whole and how important it is to spread kindness. A big issue world wide is selfishness and depression and we thought our commercial could spread some light on that.

2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Everyone uses sticky notes for many things like school, work, reminders, kind notes, etc. We chose to show just one way to use them but it isn't limited to just that. It is a nice short feel good commercial that can be put on TV and any social media platform.

3. How did your production skills develop throughout this production?

Filming this has shown me how to film certain clips so when we add them together they don't look so choppy. It has also made me more attentive. For example, if i saw one of the actresses wearing a school lanyard we would have to take it off or if the logo was somewhere we would have to switch locations. Another thing is learning more about filming terms like tilt and pan. I think one thing we could've done better is making the scenes we started with a tilt more obvious.

4. How did you integrate technologies- software, hardware, and online - in this?

Since technology is more evolved, we only had to use a phone camera and an editing app. To film. I used violets phone which is an iPhone 11 so the quality was very good. Then she air dropped the videos to mila so that can can edit the videos together. Imovie is a great app to use for editing videos. Its very self explanatory so mila just put the videos in and she had to cut some in order to film the time limit and still, it was a little too long so she made the clips faster with a feature on Imovie.
