Creative Critical Reflection

This is my creative critical reflection!

ARE WE STILL FRIENDS? music video

There weren't many complications while filming. Although there weren't many there were a few big ones. All of us were really busy during the time period of this project meaning it was hard for all of us to meet up. We ended up finding a perfect time where me violet and her brother could all film since we were the only ones in the video. that issue wasn't big. however Nicole never cut the music and that was her job so i was stressed on Sunday doing her work. We all got in an argument which is sad because Mila violet and I did our work so we were a little mad at Nicole. Ive decided that I'm not working with Nicole for the next project. Besides that, I learned a lot about costume changes and how to be serious during a scene that shows a different mood. Im excited for the next project.

problems along the way

Today was the second day of filming. Since we had filmed all the videos we were able to do it at school. luckily everyone was here. we all sat together and listened to the music Nicole cut. this is where it gets tricky. The times that we thought  were supposed to be cut were wrong. Im not quite sure the issues they were having but it seemed difficult. they had to replay the song many many times. The lyrics that were going with the video wouldn't match up. This was a big issue because in the story board, we made the main character lip sync some of the lyrics so thats how we filmed it. That idea cant work if it doesn't match up. It was pretty funny because we had to replay the song so many times that people started to get annoyed. We haven't fixed the issue yet but we have time and we will.

No video without editing!

One thing about Tyler the creator songs and other artists like him are that his songs are quite long. There is a lot of instrumental in between lyrics. The entire song of "are we still friends" is about 4 minutes and we could only use 1 minute and 10. We needed to cut a good portion of the song so that were would be able to stick to our story board without it reaching the time limit. Luckily, Nicole knows how to cut songs. We brought up the issue and she said since she does dance she's used to this. We gave her all the times to cut at and she was able to do it. Mila was pretty sad she couldn't help out filming since she was sick. considering she Edited our last commercial she will put together this one. All the videos were on violets phone so she sent it to our group chat. Mila is able to see in which order the videos go because of the story board. Until she puts all the videos together ill write again!

Filming together

Today we filmed the scenes where the boy and the girl are hanging out and the part where they boy knocks on her door. Like I said previously, all my group members have busy schedules. luckily, Violet, her brother and I all do soccer for the school so we met up at my place afterward. right off the bat we started filming. We started with the "long ago" part which are the flash back scenes. This scene was 7 seconds so we split it up into 3 and 4. for 3 seconds Violets brother, Cole and I were walking/skipping on the sidewalk arms interlocked. for 4 seconds we were supposed to be talking but i noticed Cole stepped in dog poo so i accidentally started laughing and thats what we decided to use. The next scene we had to film was when Cole Knocks on my door and says the lyrics. for a costume change i let him borrow my hoodie and i used one of my own. We had to figure out how the song cut and that took a little while but then once we figured it out we had to re film the door scene

Filming begings

We arrived at our first problem. there was no time or date that everyone could all come together to film. There was one good thing though. While coming up with the music video idea, we thought we should use Violets brother since we needed a boy. So, since we are using violets brother as the main character, we figured it would be easier if she could film while they were at home. We all have pretty busy schedules with extra curricular’s so we had to comprise and we all came to an understanding that we won’t all be able to be there all the time. This doesn’t mean we didn’t all help though. Violet face timed to show us the positioning and ask about the story board. And she sent us the videos she recorded so we could make sure they were good. Some times she didn't know how to get the angle so we would talk it over on the phone. Also if she needed help ending the. video so there could be a transition we would show her how to do it over the phone. At first I was a little scared of
